Why Austin Butler Turned Down A Top Gun: Maverick Audition For Quentin Tarantino: “I Had To Choose”

Throughout his acting career, Austin Butler has starred in a number of noteworthy films, but he also passed up the opportunity to try out for Top Gun:

Maverick in order to collaborate with Quentin Tarantino. Under Tom Cruise's Maverick in Top Gun: Maverick,

Butler would have been a military pilot undergoing training for a risky mission. Butler was initially considered for a major role in the film,

but he ultimately declined in favor of a supporting role in one of Quentin Tarantino's movies.

Butler's acting career began while he was a young child, appearing in a number of children's television programs,

including Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. Even yet, there was no assurance that he would be a household name as an adult despite his early success.

He frequently had to make difficult decisions to further his career, and turning down a part in Top Gun:

Maverick turned out to be one of those decisions. Fortunately, Butler's performance in Tarantino's film turned things around for the better and brought him a number of enormous hits.
