Tom Cruise Had A 4-Word Response When He Saw The Story For Top Gun 3. So, What's Next?

Top Gun: Maverick was a massive hit in 2022. The Tom Cruise-led blockbuster broke box office records, and the action flick received a Best Picture nomination that year.

It was also a success with moviegoers, and everyone appeared to enjoy the follow-up to Tony Scott's 1986 feature. Plans for a Top Gun 3 appeared inevitable,

and latest reports indicate that Paramount is actually pushing forward with a Top Gun threequel. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently revealed Cruise's reaction to hearing the film's concept idea.

The iconic film producer recently chatted with ScreenRant about the studio's ambitions for Top Gun 3, as well as how production is progressing. The good news is that things appear to be in motion,

with Maverick filmmaker Joe Kosinski set to direct again. According to Bruckheimer, Cruise's response to hearing about the story intentions for Top Gun 3 was as follows:

This is a brief response with little context. But when it comes to developing a Top Gun picture, Cruise's approval is critical. Top Gun: Maverick took more than 30 years to get

off the ground because Jerry Maguire refused to move forward unless the script was perfect. Cruise also serves as a significant producer on the Top Gun films,

thus his opinion is critical to the franchise's future. Getting him to sign off on at least the story proposal is a great sign that a script will ultimately be put together.
